FAQ

The questions that come up before someone has played — including who actually makes it.

Who makes this?

One person, in whatever time is free. There is no studio, no publisher and no team — just someone who wanted to play a game like this and started building it, and a few friends who kept saying they would too.

What does it cost?

Nothing. There is no shop, no subscription and no account tier — the whole game is free, and there is no plan to change that. It does not need to make money; it needs people to play it. If you want to chip in anyway there is a donate page, and it buys nothing in the game either.

Do I need the installer, or is there a browser version?

The installer, and it is the only way in — the server accepts the desktop client and nothing else. The game is built on web technology and the download wraps that in its own window: it starts faster, keeps itself updated, and does not depend on a tab staying open.

Windows says the publisher is unknown. Is that a problem?

No — that warning appears on any installer without a paid code-signing certificate, and a certificate costs more than a one-person project has spent so far. Click More info, then Run anyway. Every update after the first install is cryptographically signed, and the game refuses one that does not verify.

Mac or Linux?

Not yet. The game itself is a web client under the hood, so nothing about it is Windows-specific — packaging it for another platform is simply work nobody has done yet, and there is only one person to do it.

Which server do I join?

There is only one, and the game connects to it by itself. No server list, no address to type, nothing to host — install it, make an account, and you are in the world everyone else is in.

How many people can play at once?

Everyone is in the same world at the same time — no shards, no channels, no copies of the overworld; only a dungeon is a copy of its own, one per party — and dungeons are built for parties of 5 or 10 players. It is early for a one-person project, so expect a crowd of tens rather than thousands, but it is open to anyone who installs it.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. Characters, inventory, level and your exact position in the world are stored server-side and restored when you log back in.

Do I lose anything when I die?

No items and no levels. Death costs you position, not progress — you come back at the world’s spawn point wherever you died, whether that was out in the open or in one of the undercrofts beneath it.

Can I play with someone in another country?

Yes, though the server resolves hits based on where things are when your input arrives, so a long ping shows up as the occasional shot that looked like it should have connected.

How much is in the game?

12 specialisations across six classes, 1155 items, 69 enemy types, and an open world with a layer of interiors and undercrofts beneath it, growing with every release. The wiki lists all of it.

Is the game finished?

No — it is actively being built, in whatever time one person has for it, and it will probably stay a little rough at the edges for that reason. Nothing about playing now costs you later: characters, gear and progress all carry forward through updates.

Found a bug, or have an idea?

Say so in the game's chat, or drop it in the Discord — that is where bugs get reported and where what is coming next gets talked about. It is a small enough project that the person reading it is the person who will fix it.

Still stuck?

The download page covers installing, Gameplay the classes and the gear, Classes every spec’s talents and spells, and the wiki every item, enemy and recipe in the game.
